I LOVE Valentine's Day! It is one of my favorite holidays! It seemed even more fun this year since it landed on a Saturday - almost made it feel like it lasted longer since we got to spend the whole day together. It was a pretty relaxed and simple celebration, which lately I am learning more and more that it's the simple things in life that are most important.
Friday morning the girls and I went to a little Valentine's Day party at our friends house (The Taylor's) and all the kids were able to decorate a little Valentine's bag and then pass out their Valentine's to each other. It was really cute and I LOVED being able to witness Taylor's first real opportunity of giving out love notes! Then they just played and ate cake and probably had a little too much candy. They had a ball to say the least.
Saturday morning we had the girls baskets all set out for them which included the Valentine's quilts I made for them (all by myself I might add). A few weekends ago my Grandma came out to visit us and she taught me how to make the wonderful Germaine Family Quilts. I am so excited to be able to pass this tradition on to my children. Plus they were SO fun to make and I am very pleased with how they turned out. Jordan made each of us our own omelet for breakfast and we spent the rest of the morning painting the Play/Guest Room. We have been moving all the rooms around the past few weeks and this was the last room that we needed to paint so it felt really good to get that done. I have to mention that painting these days as a family has been so much fun. The girls just dance around the room listening to the radio while Jordan and I work and surprisingly when we tell them not to touch the walls because they are wet....they listen. I just really have enjoyed the times we have been spending together while doing projects around the house. It hasn't been stressful or rushed and I'm thankful for these sweet little memories that our family has been able to share together.
Another wonderful thing that we have started to do is a Babysitting Club with a few other couples in our ward. We switch weeks watching all the kids so that we can actually have a date night with our spouse. I'm really excited about the fact that I will get to have three weekends a month to spend some time with just my hubby! Valentine's night we decided to just do take out from Olive Garden and spent a nice, quite and relaxing evening at home. It was wonderful!
