OUR LIVES TOGETHER

Our week of being creative!

It's been a whole week already since my sweet darling daughter took it upon herself to drastically change her look. I would love to say that it has all grown back and things are back to normal, but we are not quite there yet.....I thought maybe just maybe we had a chance! I've gone through all kinds of emotions this past week - or I guess I should say the first 2 days and then the rest of the week my attitude was kind of "just run with it!"

It's actually not that bad! Thankfully Taylor has CRAZY hair that goes in so many different directions that I am able to come up with some options on covering the pathway down the middle of her head. In fact, of all times for her to do something like shave her head, she really picked the best week to do it. With both girls having pink eye recently and me catching some kind of bug and not feeling so great, we have had a pretty low key and relaxing week! At least we didn't have family pictures or anything like that! I'm really trying to focus on all the positives these days! Our ward had stake conference on Sunday so that meant NO CHURCH, which was a bonus and allowed me more time to avoid questions like, "What on earth happened to your child's hair?" No, Taylor really did select a perfect time to almost give her mother a heart attack!

Between the laughter and the tears and of course much more laughter I want to make sure that I document this episode in our lives so that someday when my grandchildren do something crazy I can look back and tell my daughter, "Yeah, but it can't be as bad as what you did when you were 2 1/2?"

Here is a rundown of my hairstyling attempts since last Saturday (I really think that we might survive this.....but I'll let everyone else be the judge!):

LAST SATURDAY 6/7/08....The day it happened!

Jordan's first reaction (NOTE: He did NOT know what had happened until he arrived home from work later that afternoon) - "WOW! She did a really good job! Honey, did you help her make such a straight line?" Are you kidding me! Oh Jordan, you sure know just the right way to make light of any tough situation - I LOVE YOU, but NO I did NOT contribute to this!

We didn't leave the house! These are my first attempts at trying a ponytail....not such a great idea!

SUNDAY 6/8/08 - Swoop bangs with a hair clip & a single ponytail!

My in-laws question on Sunday was as follows - "We all took bets on how you guys styled Taylor's hair for church - so, how'd you guys do it?" I was happy to tell them that we didn't have to make that decision because of stake conference!

MONDAY 6/9/08 - Swoop bangs with a headband and two pigtails in the back!

We went to Cold Stone Creamery as a family on Monday night & this is how my beautiful little girl looked! We went to Target earlier that day and bought her a new headband! After all, she deserved it!

TUESDAY 6/10/08 - Swoop bangs & a single ponytail bun!

The girls & I went to Hobby Lobby on Tuesday to finish up on some Father's day stuff!

WEDNESDAY 6/11/08 - Swoop bangs & a high ponytail!

Wednesday morning I woke up with a sore throat and feeling pretty lousy. We stayed home and rested. We had a movie day, the girls played babies together and we spent some time in the backyard! Thankfully we didn't have to worry about anything too fancy on this day!

Thursday 6/12/08 - Swoop bangs & a side ponytail with a pretty pink ribbon!

Taylor got invited to go to a little story time activity with her friend Talan and then after that they went to his Grandpa's farm. They had so much fun and Taylor even got to feed the horses! She LOVED it! Thanks Jess, for letting me get some rest and for helping Tay to have a fun day!

FRIDAY 6/13/08 - Swoop bangs with a side ponytail and headband & down with a side part and a pretty flower hair clip!

We were so excited because we got to have lunch with Jordan on this day! It was so much fun!

We spent the rest of the afternoon swimming in the backyard and going for a walk!

TODAY!!! SATURDAY 6/14/08 - Swoop bangs & two pigtails! MY FAVORITE!

Jordan had to work today so just me & the girls went and had lunch at Paradise Bakery! It was delicious and we had a lot of fun!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, we are making the most of this hilarious & shocking obstacle! Taylor officially will have the "Swoop bangs" look as long as it is needed. I'm SO glad that I was able to bring a little laughter to every one's lives! I hope none of your children ever put you through this! I tell you what though.....it does make you become more creative & MUCH MORE CAUTIOUS with where they are! Remember EVERY minute counts!
Honey, you are very creative and I am sure that Taylor will one day be thanking you for not shaving her head but being creative!! But for now, she is just so happy go lucky and hasn't a care in the world!!! She just thinks that what she did to her hair is quite normal!! That's what I love about that little girl, she is always so happy and always lighting up the room with that radiant smile!!!
